Megan Abeyta, PhD, owner of Abeyta Dairy Solutions, LLC, provides expert guidance in dairy nutrition and management to dairy farmers across Wisconsin. With a doctoral degree in dairy nutrition focused on the impact of stress on cow health and productivity, Megan brings a unique perspective to the industry.

Originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, Megan first developed a passion for agriculture during her high school years after interning at a sheep ranch. This experience drove Megan to pursue her undergraduate studies in Animal Science at Iowa State University where she gained a deep appreciation and passion for the dairy industry- ultimately leading to her pursuit of a PhD in dairy nutrition. Megan successfully completed her doctorate in 2022 under the direction of Dr. Lance Baumgard specializing in the impacts of stress (particularly hindgut acidosis) on gut health, immune system dynamics and productivity in dairy cows.

Drawing from this academic background and hands-on experience, Megan is dedicated to optimizing dairy cow nutrition and management strategies, particularly during the transition period, to minimize stress and enhance herd health, productivity, and farm profitability. She believes in the power of collaboration and strives to build strong relationships with farmers, understanding that trust, transparency, communication and teamwork are essential for success in the field.

In addition to her consulting work, Megan is actively involved with local dairy promotions activities including her leadership efforts with Cows on the Concourse in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. Megan currently resides in Galena, Illinois and likes to spend her free time gardening and getting involved with her local community.
