FeedFIT® Tracker: The Sailor’s Dilemma Solved
“Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink”
This time-old phrase describes instances in life when we are surrounded by resources but, for one reason or another, cannot capitalize on their availability. In the case of the sailor, they are surrounded by ocean water but because of the salt, they cannot drink a drop. For the current-day dairy, we are surrounded by data but, because it is housed on multiple software, it becomes nearly impossible to derive insights from it. Until now.
For the larger part of the year, GPS Dairy Consulting has been working with a data integrator, Ever.Ag, to develop FeedFIT® Tracker. This cloud-based tool pulls together and integrates data from on-farm feeding software, herd-management software, milk processor data and weather. All this data appears on a user-friendly dashboard and is shared with the key stakeholders in your business. The benefits of the Tracker are three-fold:
First, the whole team has live KPI’s for the dairy. For dairies that ship multiple tankers a day and they are not shipped on a consistent 24-hr clock, even determining milk production per cow on a live basis can be a difficult task. FeedFIT® Tracker can pull this information together and implement rolling averages to create the live KPI’s. Live information is important for the whole team to align around. When nutrition or management changes are implemented, the whole team can focus on results and close the feedback loop much faster.
Second, FeedFIT® Tracker assists in trend and historical analysis. Often when we are trying to diagnose an issue, we look toward historical patterns to determine where the herd should be performing. With this, we need to have access to years’ worth of data that is easily accessible. With a few date-range changes, FeedFIT® Tracker can pull together graphs and charts to show multiple years of performance data to identify trends.
Finally, FeedFIT® Tracker is easy to use. No need to be a spreadsheet expert to sort through information. The dashboard is designed to make the most important information easy to find and understand.
Stay tuned at the GPS Dairy Leaders Forum as there will be more information and insights on how your business can take advantage of FeedFIT® Tracker. The tool that can turn salty data into refreshing insights.
