The Right Social Media Platform for You
Picking the best social media platform(s) for your business can be tricky. Lately, it seems like every month there is a new tool or app to use to tell your story. Whether you are wanting to reach new customers, promote your farm/business or just trying to share the #dairygood, there’s no better way to reach the public than using social media. Here’s a few tips to help you figure out which platforms to use to reach your own goals:
Facebook
Facebook is the largest social media site in the world, boasting over 2.91 billion active users globally and 79% of monthly users are active daily. Facebook is the favorite social platform of the 35-44 year old demographic and users spend an average of 19.6 hours a month on this platform! It’s easy to get started on Facebook because almost all content formats work great on this platform: text, images, video content, and stories. But, the Facebook algorithm prioritizes content that sparks conversations and meaningful interactions between people. A good start is to create a business page where you can chat and interact with consumers.
LinkedIn
Among all the social media platforms, LinkedIn is the most professional network. It started as a place to share jobs and network professionally, but now Linkedin is also an excellent resource to share posts with like-minded people and a place for businesses to establish thought leadership in their industries. LinkedIn boasts over 830 million users in more than 200 countries and territories across the globe. The focus of the content you put on LinkedIn should be relevant to the industry you’re currently in or trying to break into. This will show your connections that you are knowledgeable, passionate and committed to your field.
TikTok
TikTok is the newest trend in social media with more than 1.1 billion active monthly users and is the 6th most-used social platform in the world. While it’s more popular with the younger generations, this video creation app has become a marketing haven. Anyone who has opened TikTok to watch a single video and resurfaced an hour later can attest the app’s powers of engagement. This social channel allows users to create videos that are between 15 seconds to 3 minutes in length and has a host of filters, affects and editing options. The key is ensuring your content on this app resonates with what the younger Gen Z (and some Millennial) audience wants to see.
Instagram
Statistics in 2021 show that Instagram has well over a billion monthly active users globally. 18- to 34-year-olds make up the biggest share of Instagram’s audience, and Gen X males are the fastest growing segment of the Instagram audience. This popular platform is good for individuals/businesses that want to focus more on creating content using stunning photos, unique designs, and selfie-style live videos that talk directly to their followers. To stay relevant, “Reels” are Instagram’s version of TikTok and it is important to note that at this time, this platform will push videos to the top of feeds instead of still images.
